Tips for parents

I’m not a dad yet. But I pretty much understand what parents go through especially with teenage kids. Because I was one of them too..well before. Good thing my parents were really supportive of what I do and they were very understanding as well. As a teenager there are so many things that may run in their minds that could be anything from sports, love, religion, politics, mobile phones, American Idol, games, success, food, travel…and much more. This pose as a challenge for parents as you know, in this century teens have become mobile and more difficult to catch up with. Some parents will seek some opinion from friends, others will sign up for courses and more and more are actually using the internet as a tool to get more answers. I did come across a rather interesting site that has free teleseminar for parents. It’s a teleseminar conducted by Linda Hinkle who happened to be experienced with teenagers from her highschool teaching for 29 years. Signing up is easy. All you need to do is submit your name and e-mail address, you will receive FREE access to the live 60-minute interview. On top of that, an mp3 audio recording and transcribed copy of the interview will be delivered right to your email as well.

If you have been on the lookout, why not check out the free teleseminar for parents. I’m pretty sure it will be worth it.

I missed my guitar

Sounds weird I know. My wife was somewhere with her girlfriends. Last night was her friends’ Dashini girls night out. Dashini is getting married soon and they are giving her the full support by being with her all night? Har-har.. I’m sure my wife will be telling her all the nice thing about marriage life. I was home alone…not exactly, cos I still have Piper who will be running around and trying to get attention. By the way, Piper vomited like in 4 different spots of my apartment today. I’m not sure if it was a result of sharing her my KFC? (I saw one piece of chicken-size of little finger) Anyway, I missed my guitar cos it would have been nice to just crank the amp and make some noise..but my guitar was in Shah Alam at my in-laws place. The photos below was taken while I was walking towards the LRT station in KLCC.

Canon EOS 350D

Today we had some photo shoot in our company. But i’m not going to talk about how it went. I’m talking about the camera that the photographer (colleague) was using. I think it was a Canon DSLR EOS 350D. Wah…one of my dream camera. Honestly I have not much experience using DSLR camera’s. My only encounter was like 5 or 6 years back when I borrowed a friends NIKON SLR. I can’t remember what brand it was. With a Bahasa Malaysia book on photography, (I think it was my friends book he borrowed from the University), I bought a few roles of film and I experimented on so many stuff for around a week or so. I was not really sure what I was doing but it was really fun. Some of my shots did come out like something meaningful?? Ha ha… I also learnt that without a macro lens, you can still achieve the same result by taking out the normal lense and switch sides. Yep. Only thing is you can’t screw the lense so you need to be extra sure that the lens are exactly in the middle. Too bad I don’t have the photo’s to show you people.

Give her a flash!

I really mean it! Ok. Let me just explain it before your imagination go wild. Any guys out there who always had difficulty trying to figure out what gift would be suitable for your gal? Flowers..? Too common. Perfume..? She has like 12 different ones. A nice pair of shoe..? What was her size again? Well, I’m one of those type too. But hey, I’m sure at least 8 out of 10 girlfriends or wives out there are at least tech savvy right? Now what would be the ideal gift? A mouse? A laptop bag? Why a thumb drive ofcourse.! Nowadays it’s so easy and affordable to get one too. Thumbdrives are so important nowadays I can’t see why people are not having it in their pocket or in their bag somewhere. It’s really light, portable and able to store huge amounts of files, even movie files. However you might be wondering with all the brands and designs out there, you may end up confused again. Well, no worries mates. I found out a site from pexagontech.com that has some awesome choice of thumb drives. What makes them cool is that you have not 2 or three choice of colors but 14 exciting colors to start with.
You also have a choice of 512MB,1G,2G or 4G of space. Price ranges from $14.99 to $69.99. Now the best part is, you even get to personalize the thumb drives with lazer engraving. Write something like “Happy Birthday, love Andrew” and see how happy she will be. Don’t just take my word for it. Check it out for yourself. By the way, I like the lime color, really groovy :)
