Your next phone

Does anyone of you here use your phone, land line or mobile frequently? For those of you who have rriends or relative overseas, calling from a normal land line may help you reduce cost compared to mobile phones. I’m sure you’ve heard of VOIP phones. VOIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol. First time I heard it it sounds like new technology to catch thieves or something. Simply put, it means ability to make regular phone calls using the internet. It’s easy, fast and the biggest attraction is of course the cost factor. It is very cost effective. One good example that caters to this requirement would be Vonage. A company that is solely dedicated to VOIP services and more. All Canadian and UK residents are greatly welcomed. Their site gives you all the info you need including a forum section so you can always get help when needed. They even have news section so you are always updated.

Food Experience # 10

Me and a few of my office mates suddenly decided to have lunch beyond our usual area. Normally we just walk to the nearest restaurant or stall. Today they decided to have it at a Chinese restaurant near Jalan Imbi, in KL called Restoran Ting Heng. I can’t even recall how we get there. So I can’t help you folks in case you want to try it out. Hopefully the restaurant name will serve as your guide. It’s a nice cozy open area type of restaurant. I can imagine how this place is at night. With the KL background as your backdrop, it will definitely look impressive. I believe this restaurant is converted from an old house. Around this area I also notice all this old homes that was converted into a chocolate house or a tourist shop.
The food was good. Very nicely done with suitable garnishing. They have a few special dish that I liked that includes this squid tentacles thingy and some pork in some popping and sizzling plate thingy. Also most of the item are prized at Rm10.00…sorry I did not get the actual name. I need to jot down next time or even have a phone camera with Macro Mode…here are some pics I manage to take…..

Fascinating India

When you talk about India, what comes through your mind? For me I’ll think of unique culture, rich history, arts and crafts, colors as well as beautiful people. What are the ways to at least be in touch with the Indian scene? If your pockets are not that empty you may choose to fly there. Perhaps buy some books about Indian Maharaja’s. But with the internet becoming more accessible combined with higher speed, watching videos might do the trick. If Bollywood is your cup of tea, look no further. Go check out aapkavideo.com. It’s like youtube, Indian style. They have everything from cricket to music videos and even places of interests. The last I checked, there is a promotion to receive a free iPod for most popular videos uploaded every month.

Mom was in KL

dsc01143-custom.pngI’ve been staying in peninsular Malaysia for like more than 10 years now. One sad sacrifice that I had to take is not being able to meet up with my family as often as other people normally do. Some folks catch up with family like on a weekly basis. The average of me seeing my parents…once a year. But I was happy the past few days. Mom came down to KL for a workshop. As fast as you can say “so what did you do with your mom?”, she is already packing her bags for the flight tomorrow. Well, I’ll be back soon to Sabah mom!
