A plugin for people who does paid posting

For those of you who does paid postings in your blog, this little plugin may help you in so many ways. But the biggest benefit is definitely the word count feature. Every paid posting practitioner here will know that one of the major thing about doing paid post is usually the number of words. I used to copy my entire writings and paste it on MS words and do a word count just to make sure.

After searching the net a few months back, I found this neat plugin that integrates within your draft area. Everytime you save your work, it will update the number of words, sentences and a whole other stuff about that post. I havent read the instructions properly but it is supposed to tell you how difficult or easy your post is for folks to read based on the point system they implement.

My band’s practice session for the Christmas Party

My church will be organizing a children’s Christmas party this coming Sunday. There will be kids from various homes and shelters around the Klang Valley. We were hoping to make some of them happy this holiday season. Imagine yourself being a kid and mommy and daddy is not around to share the joy and fun of being together?

I recorded our practice sessions so we could all hear and point out our ehem..mistakes and ehem..pitch problems as well as timings. This recording was taken directly from the mixer and of course the result is an uneven balance. My part here is the electric guitar and harmony. This song is called “Angels We have heard on high” (the rock version of it of course) I heard the band Relient K doing this one and liked it a lot.

More recordings can be found at lifedemo.com

I Wanna Win The USB Memory Watch from Gobala Krishnan

As a person who makes music (or trying to), I tend to bring my ideas everywhere. I remember somewhat ten years ago during school days, me and a good friend will try various ways to capture our recordings. I was staying in a hostel. Me and my friend Ivan Roger Ongkili was his name, would arrange this big lockers into one corner so we would have like an acoustic room :P and be able to capture the sound better. We did this in the study hall and it sure upsets most of our juniors. We used a Sanyo ‘mini-compo’ and recorded on tape.

Back home in my parents house, I would try to do a so called ‘multi track recording’ all on tape. You folks still remember those double tape player thing on certain mini-compo models where you can duplicate tapes? Yes. that’s the one. What i will do is have two tapes. I will record say the rythm on one tape, played the tape on deck A, then press record on deck B for the other tape and played along. Repeat process until you have a complete song with all the parts needed. Of course at the time, I never bothered about precise timing and stuff. The sound quality will always sound nasty no doubt!

Just within a span of a few years, we now can do home recordings just like the pros. Now I prefer Sony Vegas Video software, which is a multi-track audio and video editing software. I am currently using an M-Audio USB Audio Interface which allows me to record crystal clear guitar sounds and microphone sounds as well. My recordings are being uploaded at lifedemo.com for the world to enjoy.

usb-memory-watch-desk1.jpgTalking about technology, one thing that I have to carry all the time is my external hard disk. This is where I backup all my song materials and demos. It makes a world of difference. I can bring my whole song or parts and do my work on my laptop on the go or back at my home or even at a friends house. But something really caught my attention today. Gobala Krishnan, one of my favorite wisdom source, is running a contest. It’s a post called “Win Any Of Our Six Crazy Christmas Gifts“. The reason I am so excited is that one of the gifts is this really cool USB Memory Watch. having this is just like having mu external hard disk only this time, I’ll be doing it in style instead of carrying some little box thingy. Imagine telling a friend in Star Bucks, “hey, check out this song I just composed last night, here have a copy” and u show him your watch and give him a USB cable…that’s phat like most people will say!

Should I win the watch, my musical journey will sure be more exciting. Thanks GK for giving this opportunity to us. That’s really creative of you.

How to make enough money in three months for your Christmas shopping

The past few weeks has been one of the fastest shopping session I had. The week before was for my parents, which took me around half hour. Last week was for both my sisters and a friend. That session took me around just an hour to complete. Compared to last year, I actually used a whole day just to figure out what to buy and how to buy it. This week was hectic because we were having a children’s Xmas party at tour church for the orphans etc. Hope to bring some cheer in them. I will be in the band.

Last year’s shopping was tough because it was my day job’s money. Some stuff were even bought using credit cards which later on brought me great excitement in terms of paying them back. Oh, there’s the interests too.

What’s different this time around? Everything is paid in cold hard cash baby! (I noticed people are more nice to you when you pay in cash too) Here’s my expenditure for my Christmas shopping this year:

1. My own gift, a Vietnamese handmade acoustic guitar: RM500++
2. Gifts for mom and dad: Rm1270++
3. Gifts for Sisters, wife and a friend: Rm1100++

Please bear in mind these figures are conservative figures. I rounded up everything to make it easier on the eyes.

So, most folks will say, “..okay, what’s the big deal? I have spent more than that in a single day..”. But for those of you who haven’t found a solution for your shopping needs, or perhaps want to make some pocket money to help the family, your organization, your church, your firend..whatever the reason is, the internet is like the blue ocean. There’s enough for everyone. (Just make sure you don’t pollute it)

How I did it? Well this is just one of the ways. My way is still pretty much active income. Of course it’s in USD :D Other folks like Gobala Krishnan and Sabahan.com to name a few are earning passive income and that’s where I want to go.

So to start off, starting a blog is one good way to do it. Especially if you have a blog that gives value to your readers, (mine can be considered?) you would definitely be tapping on the niche market. Say you talk about ant farming or knitting, that will give you an advantage.

Once your blog is established (having in presence for maybe at least half a year), some traffic and readers, that’s the time where you may want to see if you can monetize your blog. Blogging takes time and especially if you use some sort of web hosting, you have maintenance costs. A quick way is too sign up with paid posting companies like PayPerPost, which pays you to do reviews for their client’s website. With a correct placements of your Google Adsense ads, there’s more money to be earned from that channel too.

You can do it too. Feel free to contact me via the contact form for any questions. I will answer you based on what I know. Other than that, you still have big ol’ Google.

When I have enough money the next round, lasvegas hotel is where I might be posting this. :P
