The past few weeks has been one of the fastest shopping session I had. The week before was for my parents, which took me around half hour. Last week was for both my sisters and a friend. That session took me around just an hour to complete. Compared to last year, I actually used a whole day just to figure out what to buy and how to buy it. This week was hectic because we were having a children’s Xmas party at tour church for the orphans etc. Hope to bring some cheer in them. I will be in the band.
Last year’s shopping was tough because it was my day job’s money. Some stuff were even bought using credit cards which later on brought me great excitement in terms of paying them back. Oh, there’s the interests too.
What’s different this time around? Everything is paid in cold hard cash baby! (I noticed people are more nice to you when you pay in cash too) Here’s my expenditure for my Christmas shopping this year:
1. My own gift, a Vietnamese handmade acoustic guitar: RM500++
2. Gifts for mom and dad: Rm1270++
3. Gifts for Sisters, wife and a friend: Rm1100++
Please bear in mind these figures are conservative figures. I rounded up everything to make it easier on the eyes.
So, most folks will say, “..okay, what’s the big deal? I have spent more than that in a single day..”. But for those of you who haven’t found a solution for your shopping needs, or perhaps want to make some pocket money to help the family, your organization, your church, your firend..whatever the reason is, the internet is like the blue ocean. There’s enough for everyone. (Just make sure you don’t pollute it)
How I did it? Well this is just one of the ways. My way is still pretty much active income. Of course it’s in USD
Other folks like Gobala Krishnan and Sabahan.com to name a few are earning passive income and that’s where I want to go.
So to start off, starting a blog is one good way to do it. Especially if you have a blog that gives value to your readers, (mine can be considered?) you would definitely be tapping on the niche market. Say you talk about ant farming or knitting, that will give you an advantage.
Once your blog is established (having in presence for maybe at least half a year), some traffic and readers, that’s the time where you may want to see if you can monetize your blog. Blogging takes time and especially if you use some sort of web hosting, you have maintenance costs. A quick way is too sign up with paid posting companies like PayPerPost, which pays you to do reviews for their client’s website. With a correct placements of your Google Adsense ads, there’s more money to be earned from that channel too.
You can do it too. Feel free to contact me via the contact form for any questions. I will answer you based on what I know. Other than that, you still have big ol’ Google.
