The term ’swiss army knife’ has become like a household name. I’m sure you know at least one person that has a swiss army knife with them all the time. What’s so special about this item and where did it came from? Why is it called in such a way?
First of all yes it did came from Switzerland. This dude by the name of Karl Elsener who owned a company that produced surgical equipments became annoyed that the Swiss army during 1891 was supplied with pocket knives made in Germany! That’s when he started making it and also named it after his mom Victoria.
There is also a this website that let folks share their Swiss Army knife experience. Check it out here
