Amcorp Mall-Flea Market

advertisement

Have you heard the term ‘flea market’? Flies going to a market? Or a market full of flies? Here’s part of the definition according to Wikipedia

Amcorp Mall-Flea Market

A flea market is a place where vendors come to sell or trade their goods. The goods are usually inexpensive and range in quality depending on several factors, which might include urban or rural location, part of the country, or popularity or size of the flea market.

Anyway, like I mentioned earlier, I’m going to write a post about the flea market I’ve been to. There are several flea markets I know that is opened up every weekend. I know there’s one in Mont Kiara. However, theirs are somewhat different from what you will find in Amcorp Mall. I find Mont Kiara’s flea market caters more to the ‘higher spending’ folks at Mont Kiara itself. You don’t see much second hand goods. There are some but not as many compared to Amcorp Mall’s.

I believe the Amcorp Mall flea market might be one of the first that started in the Klang Valley area. I kind of like it. Amcorp Mall is not a huge mall. Every shop is just within a few steps. It is more like a family hang out kind of place. That’s what makes the flea market more interesting. As you walk in the front entrance, you can see lot’s of stalls selling all kind of stuffs from food, toys, pets to fashion, you will bound to see something you are interested in.

You will find more little stalls inside the mall too. I think Amcorp Mall has 3 floors. You will notice that the flea market is also present in every floor. My favourite floor is the lower ground floor. Reason being is, this is the place where you will find more antiques / collectibles compared to the rest of the floors. Old military helmets, stamps, saxophone, guitars, guitar amps, old records, record players, keris, old toys, harmonica, old school fan, remote controls, clocks, books, vintage photos, collectibles etc. I came across this cd/dvd booklet on Jimi Hendrix. It has almost all his songs recorded live and in the studio. It’s under the MCA records production. The seller was putting the price at RM180. I had no intention of buying but I do know that that price can still be negotiated.

That’s when I found this book entitled Meet The Beatlesby Steven D Stark. I was looking for a book on the Beatles. I bought it from the same guy whom I bought my second hand Fender Champion 30, guitar amp from.

So the next Sunday, if you happened to be in the area of Petaling Jaya, check out Amcorp Mall. If you are too lazy to walk around, then bring your laptop and hang out at Starbucks near the entrance and enjoy the free WiFi. You can sip coffee, surf the net and listen to music as well as watch the girls go by..

I get my fuel from my music. Help me replace my guitar strings. Click the guitar.

Ehh… that sewing machine reminds me of mummy’s old Singer sewing machine back in our old, haunted house in Kudat? I learn to sew with a sewing machine for the first time with that machine!

    Remember ka?

Gallivanter- I kind of fancy this place. You might be surprised there are some nice old stuff that may fit a theme for some corner in your house..

Cindy- Yep. I used to alter my jeans during my Rock days to make it really tight fit. I had to put a plastic bag on my feet before I can slide my whole leg in…

I really want to buy a record player and records. How much do they usually ask for a record player and records?
I’m not too familiar with Amcorp mall, I believe I’ve never been there. I would love to.

Neems- The price is definitely not fixed. Usually it is priced a little higher then the bargaining starts. Same goes with all the other stuffs. Click the Amcorp mall link within my post. It’s their official website. They have a map there I think.

Hey, Actually I’m not really good at bargaining. :D How much do they usually sell records and record players? So I would be prepared when I do go there.

BTW, Thanks for your review about Amcorp mall. I would have never known about it. :)
