My latest investment

Sorry folks. Not some money advice.

I recently went shopping and one of the things I bought is this little baby. It’s a guitar cable. There’s a reason why I like this cable. For guitarists, when you plug your cable to an already switched on guitar amp, there will be some nasty crackling sound. It’s due to static and stuff. But this cable has a circuit breaker built-in. It’s a nifty little button where you can switch it on or off. That way, whenever I plug the jack into a ‘live’ amp, I don’t have to worry about plugging or unplugging my guitar.Planet Waves Guitar Cable

Another cool feature about this cable is that whenever one end of the cable is faulty, I do not need to do any soldering. Just cut off the faulty end and all I have to do is insert it back to the plug, tighten the screw and I’m ready to rock. It uses RCA cable.

This thing cost me RM100.00. It’s a 10 feet cable. Brand is from Planet Waves. I’m using it right now for my home recording. I love it. I think she loves me too.

Global Battle of the Bands 2008, KL-(GBOB) Part 1

The date was 15 August 2008, Friday.

Gluteus Maximus Band“..we arrived at the at the venue being greeted by wild, shrieking, crazy, awesome fans shouting GM! GM! GM! (Our band name is Gluteus Maximus). My lead guitarist fell to the ground after a hot sexy girl fan pulled his t-shirt and start hugging him. Security had to escort her away. Me on the other hand was signing autographs and taking quick snapshots with the fans. Same goes for the rest of the band members. As quick as we alighted our limo, we were already on stage getting ready to rock. The thunderous applause from the spectators in the Titanium Dance Club almost rocked the Bugera boutique guitar amps that we were using. Then the moment came when the bass and drums started our first song. I told the boys: It’s time to rock!!..”

Okay that’s just my imagination.

Gluteus Maximus BandWe came rather early since we thought we need to beat the jam to reach the club. This was our first battle of the band experience and it was awesome. Seeing all the other bands arriving to register at the counter, the feeling was amazing. Almost like a rock concert!

After getting our tags and all, we had to wait until we were called by the GBOB team at the back of the club to determine the band sequence. GBOB Malaysia director Issa Rodriguez organized the draw for us. There were 13 bands all together that night competing. And what do you know? With my lucky fingers, I picked 13!!! We were the closing act so-to-speak. Wah! Exciting and agonizing at the same time. But at least we get to watch all the bands!

Gluteus Maximus BandTo name a few, we had bands like Bench Marx (all Mat Salleh), Forty Winks, Gluteus Maximus (That’s us!), Lab Rat, Lethal Doses, Pasca Tragedy, Revenge (Awesome glam rock band!!), Rolling Sixers, Single Track Mind and others that I can’t remember. (Actually those were the name list I managed to take a snapshot of)

Every single band was great. We have genres like heavy metal, ska, rock, alternative, Indie… they were cool man. Did we win? No. Did we enjoy ourselves? YES!!! What a great experience. For part two, I will share more photos and perhaps whatever video captured that night.

A very BIG thanks to those who voted for us. We really appreciate every single one of you. And to the ladies who shouted at the top of their lungs… when we have our own trailer, you are invited.. :P

Cheers!

My “This is Kaamatan” video has reached 590 views in Youtube

unduk ngadau photos in Matunggong Kudat

I actually uploaded the video just 1 or 2 days before the actual Kaamatan date, roughly around 2 weeks old. Between then and now it has reached 590 views. Based on the statistics, most of the viewers are from Malaysia (obviously).

Of course the numbers can never compare to some other profiles who even has million of views. But this is a video of mine that performs better than expected. Feel free to download the song in mp3 format for those of you who are here for the first time.

I hope the English Sumazau type song will help spread the message about us Sabahan’s that we are nice folks.. he he except for naughty politicians etc..

“Bukan Milikku”-my first Malay Song Composition

As mentioned yesterday, I have completed this song called “Bukan Milikku”. Just written with simple lyrics. Not really poetic and stuff. Here’s a short clip. To listen to the full version and download the song, go to my music demo blog at lifedemo.com. This song is inspired from a personal experience.

(Any hot ladies out there who wants to make a video clip? he he…)
