Before getting married, what’s the typical line that folks will ask you and your partner? Let me see if I’m close. “have you bought a house yet?” would be one of the most used sentence. Am I right? As a man, I’m pretty sure most of us will tend to ‘make sure’ we have a place to live. It’s natural. You want to give your partner a safe and comfortable place to live in.

Getting a house is a very big decision. Especially when choosing between Fixed rate mortgages or the other. Non fixed mortgages may be interesting since some interest rates may be very low at the time of signing up. Fixed rate on the other hand maintains the same fixed interest irregardless of the economic situation. Well at least that’s what my banker told me.

The key thing here is to compare mortgages. You can only know which works best for your budget and preference when you understand the concept between the two mortgages.

Me? I took the fixed one. Yeah I know. I was playing safe.

What’s up with blogging anyway? The first time I heard about it was like two years back. I read and heard about blogs at the time but only got involved when my sis introduced me to this blog service from blogger.com. When I first started I did not even know what to write. Am I supposed to tell what I did today? Should I tell personal stuffs like how’s my relationship with my wife or perhaps how much money is left in my bank? It turned out that you could blog about anything. There’s no set of rules really. Of course you better be cautious about giving away personal info.

I find blogging as a sort of therapy. Almost like I’m talking to another person. My audience are my readers and myself. It’s a channel for me to relax the mind and body. Like a spa! Well almost.

And I found out another reason to blog too. You can monetize your blog. Some do it to the extent of pro-blogger. Others like me do it for fun and make some pocket money. It’s nice to be able to pay for your hosting and stuff. I would not say I specifically blog for money. But I like to make money while I blog!

I have always been fascinated with music. Especially making your own. I started learning the guitar when I was 12. My dad had his old acoustic guitar, a Yamaha brand. We took it off from my cousin who borrowed it for like a few months. By the time we got it back, it had a few scratches and some cracks. Even one of the tuning knob was missing!

While sitting at the back of the car, I had to hold on to the guitar. That’s when my first experience with music begins. I played on the strings and noticed when I press down on the frets, it produces some kind of note. As I press the lower or higher note, I noticed I can make a melody! So I played ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’ on a single string. From then onwards I learned the guitar by buying the small book that shows you guitar chords. (I really need another copy since I am still terrible at chord names).

I have ‘written’ some songs since then. I made my own demos in Kunak, Sabah using toy keyboards and a Sony Mini Compo. It was terrible of course. Things have improved a little since then. In fact I’m learning new things almost everyday. This site that promotes unsigned bands for instance called unsigned.com, is a place for any unsigned bands or artists to promote their work. There are many other sites for the same job but this one is unique in it’s own way. Browsing their site, there are a few independent bands that was really good. I listened to 1 One Day Remains which is a band from South Africa and you gotta check out Amber Shalene man.
