I blogged about this before. But I thought maybe why not share this info again. This time with in-depth explanation.

For those of you ‘kaki’ karaoke, you would know stuff like ‘volume’ and ‘pitch’ right? How many times have we been in a karaoke joint where you noticed that the music is too soft or your microphone needs a little boost? Yeah. ..and the pitch part, once I sang this song called “I don’t wanna talk about it” in front of some ladies. I sang it before. But little did I know that different places may be using different versions or song files. I ended up singing something with a very high pitch and have to use so much falsetto I sounded like the Bee Gees!

So this is what I’m talking about. Control. Let me introduce you to Van Basco’s Karaoke Player. The ultimate MiDi karaoke player for your PC. Now I will not elaborate what midi is all about. Just say midi is a type of file that plays musical instrument parts for your pc and some electric keyboards. It does not support real voice. Think of those days where you played old school games and stuff. But with todays sound card technology, those ‘unreal’ sounds that you heard a decade ago now sounds more ‘real’ compared to those days. Most of our sound card are well equipped to process these midi files anyway.

Back to the karaoke player.>>>

First you need to download this nifty little beast. Get it from Vanbasco website. Install it as usual. It will launch after that but don’t be panic. It will open all the little windows for all the function. Just click those line of buttons at the bottom of the player. It will open or close those windows. The most used windows would be the Control, Karaoke and Output.

Control=to control your tempo, pitch and volume. Isn’t that cool!

Karaoke=to display your karaoke window lyrics. You can even customize this! Change your background image and stuff…

Output=to on/off certain musical instruments. This will be helpful because most of the time midi karaoke replaces the supposedly human voice as another instrument like a pan flute or steel guitar. (It’s irritating to sing along with them at least for me)

Now you know the function it’s time to search for karaoke songs!

Go to the vanbasco website again and do your karaoke search from there. (Be sure to check the “Only show results containing Karaoke”). The search result will be shown and you can click the link. It will bring you to a particular website that has that file. You may want to use ‘ctrl+f’ if the website has a lot of songs. Download the midi karaoke file and save it to your desired folder.

You can also create a playlist for all your favorite songs. Once you have thousands of songs in your collection, you can have a karaoke party at home! Hook your laptop or PC to a huge sound system and have a blast!

You can even save the settings in the Control settings. Meaning, you will sing in perfect condition everytime you bring up that song. No more embarrassing moments for you in a party! What are you waiting for!! you can even search for “La Camisa Negra” by Juanez. Yeah it’s available already. Cool eh?

If my memory serves me correctly, previously, I posted a topic on some free PDF Converter. Now that software is great. After installing it in your pc, all you need to do is ‘print’ it using the PRIMO PDF and you are ready to create an e-book. But what good does an ebook do if you do not have the option to create links in it? Yeah, the downside of PRIMO PDF is that you can’t make links to work.

Well thanks to my buddy Nimrodjo, he pointed out to me another tool that will convert all your MS Words, Excel even Power Point into professional looking PDF files with working links too! Unfortunately, this one only works online. But hey, who’s not connected to the internet anyway? (unless you are living in my kampung lah with less than 2% of the community has internet access)

This is a nifty little Worpress Plugin written by Keith Dsouza. I know some other folks used a different way of upgrading their Wordpress. But I personally like this one. I prefer to go to my individual blog and go through the process step by step. Having said that, this plugin does not take much of your time and it’s so user friendly even your cat can do it.

For those of you who like to make other people happy, here’s something I found online that may help you to do just that. First of all it’s free so that’s one problem solved. Secondly you have a number of choices of messages. You get to create smoke signals, Hollywood sign messages, skyscraper office lights messages, crop circles, even a monument with your face (or your friends) in it.

The smoke signals uses Google map as a background. Pretty clever. I’m not sure how they do it. All you need to do is select your map, in this case I chose Kuala Lumpur and place the marker in KLCC. Next step is to type your message. And in an instant you can impress your girlfriend or your wife or your boyfriend or your husband..even your boss. Okay, I know you cant stand my blabbering. Go to MapMSG and make someone smile today.
