I bought myself a brand new ADSL Broadband modem WiFi router thing

My Aztech modem finally died. I poked the reset button like so many times. Only the power indicator light was working. Whatever I did to try to get my laptop to communicate with the modem to access it’s settings was not working. Finally after walking around in the Digitall Mall in section 14 Petaling Jaya, I went for this thing called Level One. Never really heard of them. The salesman told me that this stuff is from German technology. Well if BMW was from Germany, this must be good huh?

I also found out that I’m supposed to turn off my WiFi Modem when not in use. I see, no wonder my Aztech WiFi died on me. I never really switched it off since I bought it like a year ++ back…. cheh!

This is an absolute fallacy. The salesperson who said that to you ought to be poked with a finger at his/her head.

In a production environment, having downtime is not tolerable. I’m sure that any decent modem could last at least 2.5 years with no shutdown (the occasional reset is acceptable though).

The important thing is to ensure that your equipment’s operating environment is healthy; good air circulation and ventilation. Essentially, to let the modem “breathe” properly.

All the best with this modem router thingamajig :)

Aryst- only time will tell my friend…

Azmeen- Is that so? I mean yeah. Logically speaking I thought the same way too when I first bought the Aztech. Perhaps I did not have proper ventilation and air circulation, as well as protection from mother nature’s ‘electric shock’.

Let’s see how long my relationship is going to be with this Level One stuff. They are giving LIFETIME warranty except for lightning strike. As for now, it’s back to my morning toilet WiFi sessions..
Thanks for the input by the way.
