In Malaysia 97.9% distress calls made to emergency numbers are prank calls
In the call center where I worked, we received prank calls quite often. However it’s not as high as 97.9%!! School holidays will normally bring our figures up but sad to know that the Emergency Services number which is the 999 number were abused to the max. This is really sad. Average of 67,257 calls and only 1,396 is genuine distress calls.
I mean this is really serious. Seriously sad. Something needs to be done man. This is not like a hot line for Halloween invitations or something?? People deal with life and death situations here. Education is the key IMHO.
