Tesla Motors (No more fuel price complaints)
A friend of mine forwarded a website of this brand of car from Tesla. (I thought there was a rock group with the name too. Early 90’s I think). Anyway, I’m sure you have heard or seen an electric car before. But so far non I have seen was in production yet. But this car is already on sale and it is one car with great features and benefit. Especially if you are concerned about your environment.
A typical four-cylinder engine of a conventional car has over one hundred moving parts. Guess how many is there on this Roadster? One. It’s called the rotor. Just like your dynamo. Lesser weight and lesser moving parts means lower maintenance required. Imagine no more need to replace engine oil, timing belt, coolant, hoses, filters and all the things you used to service or replace on your car.
The performance of this Tesla Roadster is also amazing. it goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds. It’s top speed reached 130 mph. It can go 200 miles on a single charge. It says that a full charge can be as quick as 3.5 hours. The battery life is in access of 100,000 miles. Man, I love this thing.
Price? Well, according to their website, effective Friday, June 15, Tesla Motors is increasing the base price of the Tesla Roadster from $92,000 to $98,000. Although they do encourage people to submit their reservations on or before the said date to secure the ‘cheaper’ price.

There’s even a blog from one of their future owners, Dr. Rob Wilder, CEO of WilderShares LLC. (Perhaps he put a down payment of $50,000 under the Premium Buyer option. If you can wait a llittle longer, you may also pay $30,000 instead)

For me Tesla reminds me of the Tesla coil in the popular strategy game Command and Conquer. The Tesla coil is an electrical device which zaps the enemy to death
Ady- Really? I was never into PC games let alone strategy. Seems like the name Tesla is being used quite a bit. Well, I Wiki’d it and there is a famous person by the name of Tesla. Nikola Tesla. He is best known for his many revolutionary contributions to the discipline of electricity and magnetism in the late 19th and early 20th century. Coincidence?
Nope I don’t think those are coincidence… looks like Tesla really have his name associated with many things electric. Even Tesla the band have one of the album cover featuring thunder/electricity. Yeah I’m a fan of that band
I think there is a good market for a high-end environmentally friendly car like this in the United States. Start at the high end and come out with cheaper models over time. Celebrities will buy the high prices ones and build demand for cheaper models for the masses.

Ed- Very true. Perhaps this will be like cellphones a few years back. When more and more companies start producing better and more efficient electric cars, we will have more competition and this will surely gear up service and drive prices down. Hopefully God let me live to see some part of that!

Having used to work in one of the world’s oil giants, the stats shows that the world oil reserve is depleting fast, so within the next 10 to 20 years fuel will be scarce. That is the time when electric cars will be the choice and hopefully have a dramatic price drop.
