The first Malaysian National Youth Entrepreneur Convention 2008

advertisement

Last Saturday, as mentioned, I went over to PWTC to attend the ‘first Malaysian National Youth Entrepreneur Convention 2008′. It’s actually a full day session. Unfortunately I was working in the morning so i only had a chance to join half way. There was a price tag to the conference however. The original price was Rm100 per pax. Thanks to a group package thingy, you are given a 50% discount if you come in a group of 3 minimum. Another BIG thanks is to Mr Steven Wong who have helped organized the group registering, so I tagged along.convention.jpg

I was there around 2:20pm or so. I missed the morning part which was quite important. (sigh) Steven Wong was also kind enough to actually keep my door gift and took the trouble by meeting me outside of the hall and helping me find a place to sit. (He did not have to do that but thanks again Steven!)

The second session was supposed to be like a “sharing my experience session” or maybe more like “how I got to where I am” kind of session. When I finally settled down in my seat, there was this guy with a somewhat American slang to his accent. I don’t recognize him but based on the profile in the booklet provided, I think he is . Hmm.. I thought my sis mentioned about him once..Next up was Kenny Sia of Kennysia.com. The “top blogger” of Malaysia so to speak. Okay, I always thought that he would be really funny and extrovert at least but no. Kenny was rather very composed and the part where the slides was showing his old photos (he was like saying..”no that’s not what I wanted to show!”) he seemed very calculative from the way he speak. (of course we all know that was deliberately done). But seriously he even made his voice sounded like Elvis? I’m not sure if that was his actual normal voice but yeah, “All shook up uh huh huh”.. :P

Now Mia Palencia is another story. (I’m not saying this because she is a Sabahan) She is quite a successful singer / songwriter and based on my Googling, she launched her singing career at the age of 14. I think she is quite influenced by a lot of Jazz too. I had a chance to meet her and had a short chat together with Steven Wong after their session ended. She is radiant with an aura of love and passion for her music that I can say.

Other speakers after her includes KidChan of Kidchanstudios. (Yeah the famous photographer). After a short break, there was another session with other young entrepreneurs like Joel Neoh, founder of YouthMalaysia.com, Raj Ridvan Singh of Science of life 24/7 and of course how can you forget the “Amazing Millionare Sisters”. Their session was seriously like a fired up session normally done in a sales organization! Very interesting duo indeed. And boy do they have money!

There was also some band sessions going on outside. Some battle of the band thing. There were numerous event going on as well at the same time around the building all related to youth stuff. Anyway, it was really informative, interesting and an eye-opening event for me.

I get my fuel from my music. Help me replace my guitar strings. Click the guitar.

    Hi Kay,

Thanks for the mentioning. I don’t think it is much trouble to wait for you outside, after all, it’s walking out for 5 mins, for my exercise after sit in for too long.

Yeah, about the entrepreneurs who are sharing on stage, do you realise they all have one common things? That is they start at very young age. If you want your kids be entrepreneur, probably u need to do same, train them since young.

    Regards,
    Steven Wong
