Trip to Fraser’s Hill

We will be celebrating independence day on the 31st August. It happened to fall on a Friday. Since the timing was pretty nice, my choir group decided to choose those days for our little family trip. So Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be it. The trip will be to Fraser’s Hill.

Everyone gathered at the ‘Choir Master’s’ place in Bukit Jelutong. The plan was to meet up at 5:45am and make a move by 6:00am. We only got moving roughly around 6:00++ or so. Made a quick stop at another family home to pick them up and off we go. There were 6 vehicles all together. We have a Toyota Alphard and Vios, Proton Waja, Gen-2 and Iswara as well as a Honda City. We made a quick stop before the Guthrie Highway? to have a group prayer and head off towards Fraser’s Hill.

All agreed to stop over at Kuala Kubu Baru instead of Rawang for lunch. It was still early, I think it was around 9am? when we reached the area. We saw a Chinese shop selling Want Tan noodle and some other dish like curry mee and stuff. The morning sky looks very blue here compared to Kuala Lumpur. Breakfast was fantastic… well at least for me since my wife and mother in-law both gave their unfinished meal..

After the wonderful breakfast, we visited the Kuala Kubu Baru Catholic church. It’s a nice small church. Looks rather classic. After the church visit, we went to the morning market. Not a big area but quite a place. You could find fruits, local delicacies, cheap clothes and footwear and others.

We continued our journey to the top and made one or two stops along the way to rest and continued again. Some funny thing happened. We actually went to the wrong hotel apartment. Everyone was like imagining some nice place to hang and visualizing what to do in this place. Apparently, the actual apartment is another few corners up the hill. It’s called the ‘Fraser’s Silverpark‘. Once everyone settled down, and unpacked, it was just about time for lunch. Lunch will be ‘Nasi Lemak’! The amount of food and dish they prepared for this lunch was amazing. Everyone chipped in. That was a good lunch as well.

The rest of the day and next day was filled with activities like, eating (again), jungle trekking, checking out the cute Fraser’s Hill town, praise and worship sessions, jamming sessions, games and more.

It was a good break for most of us. Nice cool weather and great bonding among the choir members and their family had made us closer and stronger than before. It was also a good way to escape from the Kuala Lumpur air.

Oh, the day we came back, we had some awesome meal in one of the Chinese shops in Rawang.
We had Bah Kut Teh!

So whats good about Fraser’s Hill?
Fresh air (most of the time), great place for friends and family to relax and unwind, most areas are nearby, almost most of it are walking distance, not far to travel to.

The downside?
Depends on which apartment you stayed, the kitchen sinks may not work, some so called strawberry garden may fool you, also some waterfall may not be as what you would have expected.

Err… there’s also the rip-off breakfast. Some really inconsiderate car drivers and insane motorbike riders on the winding road.

Oh and the culinary surprise a bunch of us had
